Managing
Risk and Reducing Workers’ Compensation Costs For The Construction
Industry
Stephenson & Brook understands construction. We’ve worked with
wrap-ups including Boston’s Big Dig, Harvard University, Fenway
Park, Brown University and Children’s Hospital.
The stakes are very high for construction companies; mistakes and missteps
can be very costly. Companies with high modification factors are often
excluded from bidding on jobs. Whether you are a union or an open shop,
profit margins are getting squeezed and competition is fierce.
Workers’ compensation is a fixed cost of doing business but it
is not an uncontrollable cost. The variance in premium cost between companies
doing the same job may be as much as 40%. Your savings go right to the
bottom line!
Our clients save money because we manage every lost time claim filed
against them through our Comprehensive Claims Service. We watch out for
our clients' interests at every turn and in every detail of the claims
process to shorten the settlement time and reduce the final claim amount.
• Medical review: we work with physicians to establish timely, realistic
medical and lost time assessments
• MA Department of Industrial Accidents (IAB): we work with your
staff or legal counsel to prepare for the IAB process. We will be there,
at the conferences and hearings for you.
• Lower medical reserves and close cases: we are nurses, case workers
and claims experts and we are expert in evaluating disability ratings
and interpreting medical protocols.
With our Policy Analysis and Cost Recovery Program we analyze your workers’
compensation policy - construction credits, employee classifications,
endorsements, and modification factors - to make sure that it is accurate.
This is a contingency based program, if we discover mistakes and recover
past overcharges, we are paid as a percentage of actual savings. If no
mistakes are found, our service is complimentary.
